14 March 2016 SATVI team makes impact at SA Immunology Society Conference

Dr Munyaradzi Musvosvi, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Ms Cheleka Mpande, MSc student, at SATVI recently won prizes for Best Posters at the recent 5th Conference of the South African Immunology Society held from 6-9 March 2016.

Associate Professor Tom Scriba, who delivered a paper on the “development of antigen-specific T cell responses in acute and established infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis in humans” was supported by various members of his team, which included:
Dr Helen Mearns who spoke on “H1:IC31 induces long-lived TNF-α+IL-2+ CD4 Tcell responses in M. Tuberculosis infected and uninfected adolescents” and Dr Virginie Rozot who delivered a paper on “Deep immuno-phenotyping and functional assessment of leukocyte responses to M. tuberculosis using cytometry by time-of-flight.Ms Fatoumatta Darbou, PhD student  also presented a poster entitled “Measurement of whole blood-based transcriptomic signatures of tuberculosis in PBMC samples“  during the conference.
